Background

Richard Holland is the former editor of Paranormal Magazine and the author of six books on ghosts. He has appeared on BBC and independent radio and television programs discussing the supernatural and is the editor of a website dedicated to British ghosts and folklore, UncannyUK.com.

His latest venture is Ghost Finder London, an app for Android phones and iPhones. Using numerous written sources, Richard has meticulously researched the haunted heritage of London to create a database that is much more complete than any book you can buy about the capital's ghosts. More than 300 haunted locations have been mapped on Ghost Finder throughout Central and Greater London.

You can read about the ghosts haunting each location and the fascinating stories behind them. The database can be browsed or searched for key words and location name. You can also access the information on each site one at a time by pressing the location-finding ‘pins' on the map. By pressing the compass symbol, you can find the nearest spooky site to your position. The detailed maps can then be used to hone in on the precise co-ordinates or expanded to show the number of haunted locations in your chosen area.

At the festival Richard will be talking about his impressions of haunted London , highlighting those locations and ghosts which are less well known but particularly spooky and intriguing. You will discover some of the most ‘disturbed' houses in London , the most haunted church in Britain (no, it's not Westminster Abbey!) and some the weirdest ghosts – including a multicoloured donkey!
