'Candle/light (Memorial) 2008'

A comment on progress and technology using the
simple example of the candle and it's (indirect)
replacement by the light bulb. It serves as a memorial
to the incandescent light bulb in a time where they are
being slowly phased out and being replaced by more
efficient technologies.

'Mr Plug'

The thoughtless act we do everyday, when we switch
on a lamp, that little sparkle we create which runs
through the cables before illuminating, invisible, faster
than our eyes, an energy able to change our perception
of space. In it's complete transparency 'Mr Plug' freezes
this dynamic flow of electricity. The bulb is gone but the
light still surrounds us.

the camera as if it was an active participant in the image

the thin plane, a relatively minimal pysical form introduces dramatically contrasting atmospheres into the same room.

'Housing Light'

Exploring the containment of the subconscious, the unknown
or the creative in the everyday. The obscure glowing centres housed in the chair forms allude to the impossibility of
seperating ourselves from the world as we can ultimately
only experience it through self. They create a space within
a space suggesting inhabitation much like a litwindow.

'Homage'

Liz uses light as a paintbrush to create her photogram
images on a variety of light- sensitive media, arranging
the shadow areas and allowing the light to colour the image.

Since we were children, we are fascinated by light and
everything moving around us. Silviu has tried to bring out
this particular fascination using his work. Even though
sometimes we are too busy and we don't have enough
time for ourselves we find it really important to receive
these moments .

'Tell me no more lies'

The work is a progression from previous work, a painting
about Iraq. The red suggests danger, blood and passion.
The idea/source material for her work is often an image
in the media, a sentence someone said, aline from a book,
a photo or headline in a newspaper or a scene in a film that triggers inspiration.

MATTHEW SWIFT

'Walls'

Responding to the space by building free standing structures
out of translucent bricks. Lighting these mini-edifices from
within and behind will make them glow, standing out in sharp contrast to the solid brick room enclosing them describing
a built environment undergoing a process of renewal.

'Andrea's work is concerned with the representation
of artifical light phenomena in paint. She has a fascination
with the paradoxes of representing light in a physical
substance and does so by combining gestural marks with
